RACE AND DISCOMFORT
A discussion pushing towards an anti-racist approach that cuts all ties with liberal, recognition politics and the white supremacist hegemony. We’ll tear ourselves away from forms that rely on flattening difference (ie, “we’re all the same underneath”) or the comfortable blanket of guilt (ie “i can’t help it that i’m white”) and seek out different strategies. Let’s sharpen our antagonisms and revel in the discomfort of mutual non-recognition as a way to clear a path towards a position of radical anti-racism.

This workshop covers skills and tactics for dealing with police in protest situations, working effectively in affinity groups, keeping yourself and your friends safe and more.
Starting with a general warm up and stretching session, we’ll take a guided tour of Footscray’s wide variety of different fence styles. Wear flexible and sturdy clothing that you can move in, your best pair of boots/sneakers/running away shoes and be prepared for a bit of a work out. Scale the system!
