learn the basics of brewing. you’ll learn the basic terms and skills, make your own cider, and (if you want to) come back later to bottle and take home your own 6 pack!

RACE AND DISCOMFORT

A discussion pushing towards an anti-racist approach that cuts all ties with liberal, recognition politics and the white supremacist hegemony. We’ll tear ourselves away from forms that rely on flattening difference (ie, “we’re all the same underneath”) or the comfortable blanket of guilt (ie “i can’t help it that i’m white”) and seek out different strategies. Let’s sharpen our antagonisms and revel in the discomfort of mutual non-recognition as a way to clear a path towards a position of radical anti-racism.

LIFE DRAWING (limit 10)

2 hour self directed life drawing class with materials provided (a2 butcher paper with grey-lead pencils, charcoal and pastel).
come 15 min early for a light demo touching on some simple tricks/tips to improve accuracy of your sketches

METALWORK (limit 15)

introduction to metalwork covering grinding, drilling, small welding. content dependant on experience of participants, no experience needed.

ZINE MAKING FOR KIDS

Kids can learn how to make zine templates, create their own stories and concepts, and use different art supplies.

BLOCKADE TACTICS/PROTEST SKILLS

This workshop covers skills and tactics for dealing with police in protest situations, working effectively in affinity groups, keeping yourself and your friends safe and more.

FENCE JUMPING
SATURDAY 5PM
Starting with a general warm up and stretching session, we’ll take a guided tour of Footscray’s wide variety of different fence styles. Wear flexible and sturdy clothing that you can move in, your best pair of boots/sneakers/running away shoes and be prepared for a bit of a work out. Scale the system!

CREATIVE WRITING AND POETRY

CREATIVE WRITING: Infamous performance poet and guerrilla ontologist, popefred will be running a practical workshop on creative writing with excercises and ideas that anyone can use. Come along and expand your mind!
POETRY:An ancient tradition where people gather to listen to and perform their own poetry. Bring along your favourite piece (or use what you have written in Creative Writing) and hear others perform their poetry too. Five minute limit.

SECURITY CULTURE (limit 30)
SATURDAY 5PM
security culture; why it is important and who it protects. a brief presentationon different security tactics, a deconstruction on virtual social networks (how they work/why you should protect yourself and how to do it) from a techno-critical/antisystemic perspective with practical walk throughs on how to use open source programs that prioritise information security. no phones.
